ONE OF THE GALS
I am a man and I wish to dress like a woman. The problem with this is that I
don't know anyone who can understand me. I don't know where to go to meet people
who like to dress up. I'm overweight, so I could never look as sexy as a gal
could. I guess this point is the biggest problem of them all. Even though others
might say I am messed up, I still love women. In fact, I love them so much I
wish to, one day, be able to capture the essence of what being a woman is all
about, so I can replicate it. I'd like to be able to emulate the type of women
who turn me on the most. I have frequented gay bathhouses enough to know most
men love the size and shape of my ass, but I've got a big stomach to go with
it. What method, other than exercise, would you recommend to help me with this?
Would wearing a corset do any good? If so, are there any places where I could
get a good-quality corset for significantly less than $200? WONDERING BOB
Great, just what the world needs: another girl who thinks she's less attractive because she's fat. If you don't think fat women can be hot, then your experience transforming yourself into one is definitely going to be marred by self-doubt. Really, this should be the least of your concerns when you're starting to cross-dress. Have you ever even walked in a pair of heels for more than 15 minutes? Have you smelt your testicles after they've been in a pair of pantyhose all night? Pee-yew!
That said, Take a Walk on the Wildside (161 Gerrard E., 416-921-6112, www.wildside.org), a business geared to cross-dressers, is an excellent place to start. Their services are innumerable and take into account all the special dilemmas one might face. Have to hide your apparel from the wife or roommate? You can rent a locker there. Looking for a place to dress and feel safe and welcome? For $15 a day, you have a changing area, make-up mirrors, a huge bathroom with showers, fresh towels, shaving supplies and a lounge to schmooze in afterwards with all the chips and pop you want. They offer make-overs, clothing designs by Michael Daniels, large-size shoes, padding, you name it.
Concerning the matter of corsets: I can nearly guarantee you won't find anything with the kind of function you want for way under $200. "We have some different alternatives for $109.95," says Heather, the thoroughly charming manager at Wildside, "but they're not fully boned, they won't pull you in the same way."
What do you want me to tell you? Turn off the TV, do some crunches and pass
on the chips and pop at Wildside. If you want to be a slim girl, you've got
to start behaving like one
